Dining and Drinking

There are plenty of restaurants to satisfy all budgets. From fast food to fine dining, Daytona offers it all. The legal drinking age in Florida is 21 yrs. of age. Some bars will allow entry at 18 yrs of age. Most hotels require at least one person to be 18yrs or older for check-in.

Dress Code

Technically, there isn't one in Daytona. Wear shorts or pants, sandals or shoes, the choice is up to you. Some nightclubs may require shoes and a collared shirt. The nights can get a bit cool and we always recommend that you bring a sweater or light jacket.

Phone Calls

Daytona Beach phone calls are the same as if dialing from home. Hotels may have a surcharge, so inquire at your hotel before making a long distance call. Pay phones and your own cell phone are the most economical methods of phone communication.

Keep all medication with you at all times. Do not put it in with your checked luggage and keep them in their prescription bottle.

Tipping

Every dollar counts when you are a college student, but please don't forget to tip the people who are good to you; bartenders, waitresses, maids and bellboys. The general custom is to tip 15% on restaurants and bar bills, $2 (US) per person for bellboys and $2 (US) per room/per night for maids.

Transportation

Taxis are readily available in Daytona and tipping the driver is not expected. Never share a taxi with strangers nor allow the driver to pick up additional passengers. Agree upon a price before you get into the taxi. Depending on your hotel locations, you may be within walking distance to many of the area attractions.
