Dining and Drinking
There are plenty of restaurants to satisfy all budgets. Interested in trying different foods? South Beach offers everything you could imagine. Try Jewish, Cuban, French, Thai, Italian and Pacific Rim restaurants located along Ocean Dr., Collins Ave., or Washington Ave. There are also plenty of American food establishments as well as fast food. The legal drinking age in Florida is 21 yrs. of age. Some bars will allow entry at 18 yrs. of age. Most hotels require at least one person to be 18yrs or older for check-in.

Dress Code
Most South Beach clubs have strict dress codes; guys must wear shirts, dress shoes and long pants into the clubs. The nights can also get a bit cool and we recommend that you bring a sweater or light jacket.

Phone Calls
South Beach phone calls are the same as if dialing from home. Hotels may have a surcharge, so inquire at your hotel before making a long distance call. Pay phones and your own cell phone are the most economical methods of phone communication.

Prescription Drugs
Keep all medication with you at all times. Do not put it in with your checked luggage and keep them in their prescription bottle.

South Beach operates on Eastern Standard Time, changing accordingly with the Daylight savings time.

Tipping
Every dollar counts when you are a college student, but please don't forget to tip the people who are good to you; bartenders, waitresses, maids and bellboys. The general custom is to tip 15% on restaurants and bar bills, $2 (US) per person for bellboys and $2 (US) per room/per night for maids.

Transportation
Taxis are readily available in South Beach and tipping the driver is not expected. Never share a taxi with strangers nor allow the driver to pick up additional passengers. Agree upon a price before you get into the taxi. Depending on your hotel locations, you may be within walking distance to many of the area attractions.

Weather
South Beach temperatures in March average in the low 80's. A cold front is possible and that could bring the thermometer down to the 60's. Most days are full of sunshine in March.
